3 IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT BABY’S GUT HEALTH
This post is sponsored by Evivo. As a mom of 4 children(I just had my fourth on Monday), I have experienced the ups and downs of having a newborn and still have so much more to learn. It has been a wild ride and I rely on other mom’s experiences to gain knowledge and perspective. I recently learned that 9 out of 10 American babies are born with too much bad bacteria. Bad bacteria in a baby’s gut can lead to a higher risk of autoimmune and metabolic issues like colic, eczema, allergies, diabetes, and obesity. Moms naturally pass good bacteria on to their babies. However, due to medical advancements, that good bacteria may not get passed on. Advancements like antibiotics and C-sections have interrupted the transfer of good bacteria from mother to baby during childbirth.
My mind was blown by this information. Here I thought because I was ‘healthy’ my baby was receiving all of the same immunities I have and all of the good bacteria needed to thrive. I didn’t realize eczema and allergies could be a sign of bad gut health. My third struggles with eczema and I wish I would have known about Evivo then to be able to try it and help aid his little gut in ridding his tiny tummy of bad bacteria. The first six months of baby’s life are crucial for immune and metabolic development and can have an effect on health issues as our baby grows.
What is Evivo?
Evivo is a baby probiotic clinically proven to restore B. infantis to baby’s gut and reduce bad bacteria that is linked to a higher risk of health issues, now and later in life. Evivo comes in the form of powder that you mix with breast milk and use with a syringe to feed to baby through his/her mouth.
I encourage you to ask your pediatrician about the benefits of using an infant probiotic at least during the first six months of your baby’s life. I feel more proactive in exploring my options this time for our fourth baby and it’s given me more confidence in being a parent. I want to know about every single piece of information I can get my hands on when it comes to keeping my children healthy and happy.
Why Evivo?
Evivo works with breast milk to consume the special carbohydrates that otherwise might be wasted, and is the only brand of baby probiotics clinically proven to restore baby’s gut to its original, natural state (the one with the good bacteria present).
If you are anything like me, you may think that baby doesn’t need anything except breast milk to stay healthy. Unfortunately, your baby may not be receiving all the goodness if their gut doesn’t contain B. infantis.
How to use Evivo?
Keep the packets stored in the freezer for up to a year or store in the fridge for about 30 days (check the expiration date of course). You want to be sure to add Evivo to your breast milk in a syringe to ensure your baby is finishing the probiotic. I do not recommend mixing Evivo into a bottle, because if it is not finished, the full amount will not be administered. Saving and reheating a bottle may affect product quality, which is why it is not recommended to put in a bottle for feedings. NEVER heat Evivo directly either. Breast milk should first be warmed and then add Evivo in after desired temperature is reached. I plan on using fresh pumped breast milk and mixing with Evivo before I do a feeding.
